Offered for Sale by the California Automobile Museum, , , , This 1928 Chevrolet Roadster spent the majority of its life with the current owners sister in Pennsylvania. It is time for it to find a new home. , , , , Exterior, , , , The Chevy Roadster presents well. The green metallic paint looks presentable but was a driver vehicle so it does have some scratches and such. The sheet metal on the body seems to be very solid and free of rust and bondo. The panels are straight as are the fenders. The wood throughout the vehicle seems to be in good shape but there is one spot on the drivers side door that looks to be missing a piece and makes the door a bit loose. The hinges on both doors need to be looked at as the doors sag slightly and the doors have to be pushed in on the bottom to latch closed. The trunk is missing the outside latch but is in good overall condition. There is a piece of wood that is missing from the trunk and a thin piece is resting in its place. The hood lines up well and latches down as it should. The bows and the top are not with the vehicle., , , , Interior, , , , The interior is very simply with a vinyl covered bench seat that is comfortable and looks nice. The door panels, kick panels and side panels are all covered in black vinyl as well and are in good shape. The floor consists only of the wood sections and there is not any rubber or carpet. The dash area is in good shape but the gauge cluster is missing one gauge on the left hand side. The steering wheel wood is loose and there is tape wrapped around the perimeter of it and Im assuming it is to prevent it from falling off or pinching your hands., , , , Mechanical, , , , Mechanically this Chevrolet seems to be in decent shape. The engine starts up easily and idles nicely. However this vehicle has sat for about a year and seems to need a tune up. It stumbles slightly when you try to rev the engine up and seems to be either the carburetor needs to be adjusted or the timing advance-retard needs to be adjusted. The ammeter and the oil pressure gauge seem to be working correctly. The 3 speed manual transmission shifts as it should and the clutch feels good. The mechanical brakes work as they should but need to be checked out and adjusted as the pedal travels more than it probably should. The rear wheel seals on the hubs probably need to be replaced as there is some leakage onto the brake linings and the inside of the wheels. Electrically the engine seems to be wired correctly but the lights need to be hooked up and some of the wiring needs to be cleaned up., , , , Overview, , , , This Chevrolet Roadster would be a great candidate for a restoration or a hot rod. All the necessary and vital parts are with the vehicle and this Chevy has a solid chassis.
