Old meets new in a pretty impressive way with this astounding 1940 Ford panel delivery. While externally it still sports all its original Henry Ford sheetmetal, underneath theres enough modern componentry to make it qualify for a new birth certificate. If youre looking for the ultimate hauler, youve just found it. Nobodys arguing that the 1940 Ford wasnt among the all-time great designs. Just look at values between 1940 and 1941 models-the 40s command a HUGE premium, so theres something to be said for this trucks classic good looks. It hasnt been chopped or modified, although the rear fenders were subtly widened to handle some fat rubber underneath. A few subtle twists include a locking fuel filler door, an Olds Toronado taillight under the rear doors, and that cool fared-in sidemount spare that captures the essence of Fords commercial vehicles. The paint is a lovely soft Champagne Pearl Mist metallic borrowed from the Chrysler color palette and enhanced with a set of graphics from Soft Touch Studios that include vintage-looking Ford logos. The chrome has all been refinished, including the 1939 Ford grille and the bezels around the halogen tri-bar headlamps. If youve been inside a late-model GM pickup, you might find yourself feeling right at home inside this big Ford as well. The two-tone leather seats were borrowed from a 93 Chevy pickup, and that same truck donated the dashboard, which was sectioned a staggering 25 inches to fit in the narrow confines of the Fords passenger compartment. Custom leather upholstery looks great with beautifully stitched door panels and matching carpets for a sophisticated look throughout. The wood-faced Chevy dash is fully functional, including the gauges, stereo system with remote cassette player, and even the HVAC controls! A billet wheel tops a tilt column, which is also enhanced by a billet shifter. And yes, there is a rear bench seat finished to match the front buckets, and while youre back there, take a moment to admire the side panels, which feature Ford script and some seriously nice stitching. The cargo bay still offers plenty of room for hauling, and wears bright graphics that tie in with those on the outside of the truck. The engine is a TPI 350 cubic inch V8 out of that same 1993 Chevy pickup. Of course, its been rebuilt and slathered in chrome for a truly show-ready look, and wherever possible, OEM components were used to ensure reliability and easy service. Youll note things like the Chevy ABS brake system is intact, the A-C system uses factory fittings and hoses, and theres a serpentine belt drive system for reliability. The frame is an S10 piece lengthened four inches, with the front suspension lowered two inches and three inches in back. A 700R4 4-speed automatic channels power to a Chevy pickup rear end full of 3.42 gears, so this truck cruises effortlessly. Finally, 19-inch Boyd Coddington billet wheels have been fitted and wear 245-45-19 front and 275-30-19 rear Goodyear radials. Impressive doesnt even begin to cover this incredible truck. With dozens of show wins to its credit, its time for someone else to start taking home the big trophies. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
