Very High Quality Restoration Up for sale today is an exceptional 1947 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet with Maroon Red paint and a very classy tan leather interior. This quality sedan features a 337ci flat V-12 engine with only 3,600 miles since the rebuild and a 3 speed manual transmission. This luxury vehicle underwent a complete frame-off restoration in the early 1990’s and we have extensive documentation on it (including the original build sheet). The body itself is in excellent overall condition with no signs of rust and this vehicle drives exceptionally well. Believed to be Clark Gable’s ContinentalWhile we would love nothing more than to be able to deliver complete documentation tying this 1947 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet to Clark Gable, it is simply not possible at this time. We do know that this vehicle was originally prepped and delivered by Tupman Motors out of Long Beach, California to MGM Studios in 1947 and Clark Gable purchased a Continental from this dealership around the same time. In January of 1949, a Mr. Armand Garino purchased this Continental from MGM Studios and has been repeatedly quoted making the statement, “I finally got Clark Gable’s car.” Possible Steal of the YearEven though we can’t fully verify this 1947 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet’s complete 5-owner history that possibly began with Clark Gable, we do know that is currently in exceptional overall condition and it is an absolutely gorgeous sedan. A knowledgeable collector with the expertise to verify this story could be in for the steal of the year though since a few of Gable’s other vehicles have sold in the mid six figure range.
