Here are your choices if you want a slick custom Chevy pickup. One, you spend the next two to five years and every spare penny you can find to build your own. Or, you give us a call and start driving this 1949 Chevy 3100 next week for about half of the price of building your own. The math is pretty easy at that point, isnt it? This pro-built pickup was completed in 2010 and driven less than 3000 miles since then. The cab was stripped to bare metal and rebuilt from there, with the usual issues completely corrected and then meticulously finished to create the stunner you see today. Body mods are traditional and superbly executed, from the shaved door handles and trim to the 1-piece side windows. The bed is from Dennis Carpenter and has been fitted with aluminum instead of wooden floor slats, creating a unique look thats still completely functional. Two-stage PPG urethane was used to create the two-tone look, which is Chevy Sunset Orange over BMW white with very subtle flames licking over the tops of the doors. The Orange Crush cooler in the bed is surely a tie-in to the trucks look, and houses the Optima battery, and the overall impression of this truck is smooth and slick. Finish quality is extremely impressive, as youd expect from a pro-built piece, yet its still ready to hit the road at a moments notice. Theres more extraordinary workmanship inside, where youll find cut-down Acura buckets re-skinned in cream ultra-leather with matching door panels and the same carpets that Mercedes-Benz uses. Before the work started, every square inch was lined with Dynamat to control noise and heat and a custom center console was fabbed up in aluminum to house the controls for everything from the power windows to the A-C system. An overhead console houses the AM-FM-CD stereo system, which made it easy to smooth and refine the original dash, which now holds a pair of white-faced round gauges. Tinted windows, a 1-piece windshield, and a power lock system with remote all contribute to this ultra-clean trucks highly polished look. For motivation, this Chevy relies on Chevy small block power. Under that custom-painted 1954 Cadillac air cleaner, theres a reliable OEM throttle-body fuel injection system which insures fast starts and a smooth idle every time you turn the key. Its also easy to tune and pulls down decent gas mileage now that its linked to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. Someone spent a lot of time hiding the plumbing and wiring, and chromed or painted every single component to make this a truly spectacular engine bay. For sturdiness, the entire chassis was boxed then upgraded with tubular A-arms up front and a 12-bolt GM rear with 3.73s and a Posi inside hangs on leaf springs out back. Power front disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, and a custom exhaust system with turn-downs just ahead of the rear axle also mean that this truck is ready to drive cross-country. Beautiful Billet Specialties wheels complete the flashy look and wear staggered 235-50-18 front and 255-45-20 rear tires. So you have to decide what your time is worth. If youre the kind of guy who would rather be out enjoying his custom truck (and who isnt?), then its time to put something like this Chevy in your garage. Call today!
