Original Owner 1949 Ford Club Coupe “shoebox” , , , , Offered For Sale by the California Automobile Museum, , , , This 1949 Ford Club Coupe is a single owner California vehicle., , , , Exterior-, , The exterior of the Ford has been resprayed approximately 10-12 years ago but the paint still shows well and shines. The trim looks to be mostly there although the left front turn signal and chrome are gone and the lower chrome piece for the grill are gone. The center chrome strip and base for the hood ornament are there but the actual ornament is missing. There are extra side moldings and various chrome pieces in the trunk of the vehicle. All of the glass is intact. The driver’s door and trunk lid are off of a 1950 Ford but the reason is unknown why. The owner had the vehicle in storage and some of the pieces that are missing were stolen. The original skirts for the rear are with the vehicle and are in excellent shape. The factory undercoating on the vehicle has kept the underside of the Ford Virtually rust free. There is some surface rust present on places where there is no undercoating but is very minimal., , , , Interior-, , The original front and back seat are in place and are still covered in their original fabric material. The front seat has a separation of the material on the passenger side. The rear seat has a large piece missing on the passenger side with the cushion material coming out. The carpet has been removed. The door panels as well as the rear quarter panels are gone as well. The headliner has also been removed but the steel bows are in place. The dash is in good shape and the speedometer and clock are in the dash. The original steering wheel has some cracks but is in pretty good shape considering its age. The floors seem solid and look good from the inside., , , , Mechanical-, , This 1949 Ford runs but does smoke some. It has been sitting for some time but it drove around the parking lot for the pictures. It is probably in need of some TLC and general maintenance. The Transmission shifts through all the gears. The driver’s door does not open but the linkage has been disassembled and this may be why. The electrical system needs to be gone through as the 6 volt battery is tired. It will start with a jump. The wiring to the lights needs to be fixed and or replaced. The tires are all mismatched and the left rear tire has tread separation. It seemed to stop decent for the speeds that were traveled in the parking lot. , , , , Overview-, , This 1949 Ford Club Coupe Custom will make someone a nice cruiser or hot rod with some work. The body is in great shape and is straight which cuts out a lot of work that generally has to go into these cars. This is a great foundation to begin your “shoebox” Ford.
