The 1957-1958 Ford Fairlane 500 was Ford's new top-line series in these feast-then-famine years. The 500 shared a new 118-inch wheelbase platform with standard Fairlane hardtops and sedans, two inches longer than that of junior Custom/Custom 300 models and a newly separate Station Wagon line. It was longer, lower, and wider in 1950s fashion, with many styling elements from the 1955 Mystere show car. 1958's looked more elaborate and included quad headlamps above a '58 Thunderbird-style bumper/grille, broader side trim, scalloped rear deck, four oval tail lamps, and longitudinal roof ribs (to strengthen those panels, a '57 weakness). Main mechanical advances for this vehicle were new "big-block" 332/352 V-8s and a more sophisticated three-speed Cruise-O-Matic self-shift transmission. The car you see here has benefitted from a wonderful restoration to bring it up to the standards you see today. The paint, top and interior are all new and looks wonderful. The paint is a high quality respray in Torch Red with Colonial White with a white top. The paint on the car is in wonderful condition and shows no notable imperfections. Both front and rear bumpers are nearly perfect with no pitting or major scratches. The same goes for all of the stainless trim around the car. The top is power and functions as it should. Inside, the seats have been recovered in a white vinyl with red suede inserts that looks great. The door panels have been finished to match and look as perfect as the seats. The red carpet is all new and in great condition. All of the gauges appear to be original for the car. There has been an aftermarket AM/FM/CD player installed. The dash has been repainted to match the exterior and looks great. Under the hood, the 352 V8 looks great and is said to be the original for the car. The motor is very original and unmolested. Turn the key and the big 352 starts right up with no problems being fed with a Holley 4bbl carb. The car does have power steering. The engine bay is very nice and original with no damage to be found. The trunk is solid with no rot we have seen. It includes a full size spare and jack. Mileage shows 53,282 miles and the VIN number is H8KC12969. The car is being sold on a clean Missouri title showing the previous owner has had the car since 2006.
