Cadillac's were restyled and re-engineered for 1961. The new grille slanted back towards both the bumper and the hood lip along the horizontal plane and sat between quad headlamps. New forward slanting front roof pillars with non-wraparound windshield glass was seen. The revised backlight (rear window) treatment had crisp, angular lines with thin pillars on some models and heavier, semi-blind-quarter roof posts on others. A new short-deck sedan was situated in the 6300 lineup, ostensibly created for rich dowagers with small parking stalls in their luxury apartment houses. Rubberized front and rear coil springs replaced the trouble prone air suspension system. Wheelbases were decreased on most models. Four-barrel induction systems were now the sole power choice and dual exhausts were no longer available. Series designation trim appeared on the front fenders. The Series 62 four door hardtop you see here is a great driving Cadillac that has been with the same owner for nearly 10 years. With new paint and interior, the car looks nearly as good today as when it rolled off the showroom floor. Finished in its original colors of Olympic White with Black interior, the car is loaded with options that include A/M radio, Autronic Eye, Power Windows and Six Way Power Seat. The paint is in great condition with no notable blemishes to be found. This was a solid car before the repaint and it shows by how straight the car is. The stainless trim is all in good condition with no major dents or dings to be found. The front and rear bumpers are equally as nice with no pitting, dents or damage. Inside, the original style seats and interior are in great condition with no major wear. The carpet is new as well as the newly upholstered seats. The front seat is power and does work with no problems. The same goes for all of the power windows. Options inside include A/M radio, Autronic Eye, Power windows, power seat and tissue dispenser. The dash is solid as well as the steering wheel which doesn't show any cracking. Under the hood, the 390 Cu In V8 runs great and is extremely clean. All of the rubber hoses look good with no dry rot or decay. Connected to the automatic transmission, the car is a joy to drive and glides down the highway with little effort. There are white wall bias ply tires all around that have good tread life left on them. They are wrapped around original Cadillac steel wheels with period correct hubcaps. The trunk does include a full size spare and jack which appears to be original for the car. The trunk is nicely lined and solid as well. Current mileage shows 30,872 and the VIN number is 61K114037. The car is being sold on a clean Pennsylvania title showing the previous owner has had the car since March, 2003.
