Fast440 is pleased to offer what some would say is America's first True American Muscle Car; the 1962 Pontiac Catalina Sports Coupe equipped with 421 C.I.D. V-8 Engine (Casting # Date Code 1966), producing a wopping 460 Horsepower. Factory equipped with 8-Lug Wheels, Power Steering, Power Brakes ,and Factory Delete Power Windows, Power Seat Seat., , This nicely restored example is as Texas Solid as one could ever ask for on a 49 year-old car, and all Sheet Metal is Factory Original. The car is extermely quick, yet comfortable and luxurious driving impressions., , At some point in the car's life, this Catalina was professionally changed over to an Automatic Transmission down to the Factory Correct Shift Indicator and the "Power Brakes" Pedal. Close observation from underneath shows the Transmission Hump was patched when this changeover was performed, so we can justifiably assume that it rolled of of the Assembly Line with a 4-Speed Manual Transmission. , , Mechanics of the car are exceptionally strong with a Performance-Built 421 V-8 (Casting # for Model Year 1966) with 2x4 Carburetors and an Aluminum Intake Manifold. The Posi-Traction Rear Differential has a believed to be 4:33 Gear Ratio, so plenty of torque off of the line. The Transmission is an upgrade Turbo 400 Automatic with a shift kit installed. , , Cosmetics of this example are exceptional, and this includes nicely done Clear-Coat Paint work in a correct Pontiac color, straight body panels when looking down both sides of the car, and exterior Trim that is a combination of well preserved original and re-plated/polished as needed. Glass panels are in good condition as well. One notable flaw in the paint which we will show in the pictures below. The Interior has been restored as needed on this well preserved example with OEM Seat Upholstery, Headliner, Door Panels, Arm Rests, etc. Carpet shows some fading. Original Chrome Trim Components inside the car are in amazingly well preserved condition. , , The Trunk Area shows finished and detailed and clean., , Everything works on the car, solid Texas body, and an absolute joy to drive.
