The 1963 Impala SS is just as iconic today as it was when it was new. As a testament to their enduring popularity, just watch any music video or check out the garage of a pro athletes home-theyre all rolling in vintage Impalas just like this lovely Tuxedo Black SS hardtop. Sporting a strong-running 283-4-speed drivetrain and stunning repaint that looks highly authentic, its this years best bet for stylish cruising. Yes, this is a real code 18 Impala sport coupe and a real SS, as evidenced by the red bucket seat interior. Its also a very straight Impala with gorgeous, arrow-straight sheetmetal and a clean bill of health, thanks to living in a warm climate most of its life. The paint was done quite recently, and carries a brilliant gloss that should make the original enamel jealous, giving it a finish that will be the envy of anyone whos ever built a black car themselves. The body fits together as only a clean original car can, and I personally like the monochromatic look of the black top on the black body. All the chrome and stainless trim is original, which will tell you just how clean this car truly is, and even the side trim is remarkably devoid of parking lot dings. Correct engine-turned detailing is another clue that this is a real SS, since nobody in the aftermarket is making those particular pieces. Inside, the red bucket seat interior remains in exceptionally good condition. Refreshed at some point, its a nice blend of original styling and some more up-to-date materials that are more inviting than the originals, without being obvious. Both seats are in excellent condition, and even the drivers seat shows very little wear. Recent carpets are the correct color and weave, protected by a set of embroidered black floor mats. Beautiful new door panels and a fresh headliner round out the soft parts. Also note that this Imp offers an optional tachometer, which has to be one of the coolest factory units ever, and a Hurst cue ball shifter atop the 4-speed gearbox. A modern AM-FM stereo has been seamlessly fitted to the original dash location, and even uses the original knobs! The super clean trunk offers a correct set of mats and a full-sized spare tire assembly. The 283 cubic inch V8 remains one of the benchmarks of 60s performance, and was a step up from the standard six cylinder, which, ironically, was also available in SS trim. Rebuilt just last year and obviously well maintained, it runs like a small block Chevy should thanks to an Edelbrock intake and carb, plus an awesome V8 soundtrack from twin Flowmasters underneath. Its also nicely detailed, with Edelbrock valve covers and air cleaner, and reproduction hoses. The power brakes have been upgraded with a dual reservoir master cylinder, making this big Chevy a wonderful cruiser. The 4-speed shifts well and feeds the original rear end, and while youre under there, please note that the floors, frame, and other components are in excellent condition. Fresh 225-70-15 front and 235-70-15 rear redline radials on shiny new Rally wheels look awesome and preserve the factory hot-rod look. This Impala is a timeless collectable thats also awesome to drive. Theres more invested in the build than were asking for the entire car, so if youve been looking, this is your chance. Call today!
