A "true" hardtop minus the standard "B" pillar found in earlier models, this historical new design (with influences derived from both the Corvette Stingray and 63 Buick Riviera) was considered timeless when new and foreshadowed later design concepts -specifically Chevys future Camaro line. Full factory installed independent suspension was implemented on this 65 Monza which replaced the original axle found on earlier Corvair models. A comprehensive custom interior restoration package was completed in 1988 by Jim Roll of Tailored Trim, Inc. further enhancing the beauty of this vehicle. The front cross member was removed, sandblasted, and repainted along with the undercarriage. A complete stripping and repainting was completed utilizing DuPont base and clear coat. Finalization of the total restoration process incorporated a total engine rebuild of the original six cylinder, 140 hp power plant in 2007 with the installation of mild Clarks cam, bored 60 over with heads done by Warren LeVeque.
