1965 Mustang Convertible, , Off-White over Ivy Green with Ivy Gold interior., , 1. 289 4-bbl carb, 2. Automatic Transmission, 3. Ford Dealer installed air conditioning, 4. Front Disc Brakes, 5. “Spinner” hubcaps, 6. 4-10 rear differential, , This is not a flawless show car. It has some paint chips. It has the beginnings of rust peeking through the door skin on the driver’s side. The radio only hums. However--- what this car does have going for it is getting to be almost impossible to find any more…, , This is the most original 1965 Mustang I have seen in the last ten years. When I bought this car for my wife eleven years ago I looked for over a year to find the right combination of things she wanted: Ivy Green- a color way down on the color option list; automatic, air conditioning. This car is far from being a junker. It is 100% get in and drive it ready. It has had a repaint sometime in its life (before we owned it) but to the correct factory color. The tranny was rebuilt several years ago and probably has less than 10k miles on it. The odometer shows 60k miles. , , To my knowledge there are NO missing pieces. This also includes under the hood. The original air cleaner and even the service tags remain. Everything is there- I even have one set of original keys!, , Special things about this particular car as compared to others of the same vintage are the 289 4bbl combination- that’s the second most powerful engine produced in that year. The front disc brakes are another hard to find option. The car has no power steering. The buyer did not get the back-up light option. Of course the factory dealer installed air conditioning is a nice treat (it has been changed to 134r)., , To my knowledge, at this moment, there are only two things that don’t work: the radio (stock of course) and the windshield washer fluid pump (never have been able to get it to work). The car (up until 3 months ago) has been garage kept, serviced and repaired as necessary over the years. , , Again: this is no “barn find”. You can jump in this car and drive away. It has good rubber only about a year old. The car has not been driven regularly for the last 5 years. We used it on nice days only… the mileage was most probably less than 1k miles a year for the last 5 years., , We have recently moved to the gulf coast and the sea and salt air are going to destroy this beauty if we don’t quickly find her a new home as we have no garage. We have a couple of covers that will go with her. I have some spare parts (like the original fuel pump that had to be replaced recently, but could be rebuilt) and some weather stripping etc. that I never got around to installing., , So here she is in all her original glory. You will be hard pressed to find a more complete, more original example of a 1965 Mustang convertible!
