In 1966 the Caprice was dropped from the Impala series to become its own line. The Impala was still the biggest seller even though the Caprice was now the most top model. The Caprice was a deluxe Chevrolet with a color accented body striping. It had front fender and deck signatures, wide-ribbed body sills, wrap around rear taillights, special Caprice wheel covers, and more. The interiors contained luxurious cloth in the 4-door sport sedan, the choice between all vinyl or cloth in the 2-door Coupe, and all-vinyl interior in the station wagons.
