Model Year
1966

Even though it was the last year of the generation, 1966 saw a stylistic revision for the Thunderbird highlighted by a new egg-crate style grille with a large Thunderbird emblem at its center and a new rear fascia with the brake lights restyled to appear as one unit. Engine choices were also revised for 1966. The base version of the 390 cu in V8 lost 25 horsepower due to the use of a two-barrel carburetor in place of the previously equipped four-barrel carburetor. The optional version of the 390 cu in V8, now equipped with a single four-barrel carburetor instead of two, produced 315 horsepower. 1966 was the first time the model name "Town Landau" was used. It was also used in the years 1977-1982 for Thunderbirds with distinguishing trim and luxury features. That's a perfect way to describe this '66 Thunderbird. Loaded with options, the car has benefited from a very tasteful restoration that included new paint, interior and making everything under the hood look better then new. Options include dual power seats, cruise control, A/C, power locks, power windows and power antenna. The car you see here is a 3 owner, 72,000 original mile '66 Thunderbird Landeau that is in wonderful, original condition. The car comes finished in its original color of Platinum with burgundy interior with rare "Q" code, 428 Cu In V8 under the hood. The car appears to be almost all original with no major restoration ever being performed. The suspension and brakes have been gone through to keep the car in good running and driving condition with new wheel cylinders, and ball joints. The paint on the car appears to be the original Platinum color with black vinyl roof. The paint is in good overall condition but does have some spots of touch up around the car. The front and rear bumpers look good as well and show only some minor pitting and scratches. The car does have fender skirts that are in the trunk. The body is very solid with no bubbling that we have seen. The original burgundy interior is in very good original condition with only a few spots of minor wear. The driver's side has two seams that are split as you can see in the photos. The rest of the seats are in great condition with no major wear showing. The carpet, door panels and kick panels are all in equally good condition as well as the dash. All gauges are in good working order as is the A/C which blows cold. Under the hood the 428 Cu In V8 runs great and is connected to the C-6 automatic transmission, going back to the 3.00:1 rear axle. The car drives great and has tons of power from its 345 horsepower V8. The original wheels are in the truck and have been replaced with chrome Cragar Super Sports. They are wrapped with Uniroyal radial tires that have good tread left all around. In the trunk you will find the four original wheel covers along with the fender skirts. The original trunk lining is in very good condition. Under the car is overall solid with only minimal spots of rot in the wheel wells in the rear. The floors are solid. VIN number is 6Y87Q131127 and the current mileage shows 72,723 which is said to be original for the car.
