With the Chevelle, Chevrolet created that rare car that could be all things to all people. And it wasnt by accident that they designed it to handle the biggest of big blocks, up to and including the 502 cubic inch mountain motor under the hood of this dazzling Hugger Orange hardtop. Originally yellow, this Chevelle has no need to keep a low profile anymore, and thanks to the incredible Hugger Orange paint, it cuts through parking lots with a swagger that would make Clint Eastwood proud. And its more than just serious blasting powder under the hood that makes this one so special, its the incredible build quality that shows in every little bit of the car. The photos arent doctored, this car really is that straight and shiny, obviously the work of a lot of hours and a substantial pile of cash. But it was worth it, because the gaps are excellent, the sheetmetal aligns just right, and those black SS stripes are buried so far into the clearcoat that the edges are undetectable. Theres a cowl-induction hood for a little extra clearance, and the black vinyl top is brand new, fitting so tightly it looks like it was sprayed on. New glass was fitted throughout, and its the kind of subtle upgrade that really makes a car sparkle, but you cant quite put your finger on why. With the exception of the steering wheel and column, which were already excellent, every single component in the black bucket seat interior is brand new. Reproduction seat covers look better than they did new, and they straddle a gorgeous center console with a trick tach nestled into the clocks original spot. New carpets, a fresh headliner, and door panels on which nobodys rested an elbow yet are all part of the deal. The factory instrument panel covers little more than the basics with a speedometer and fuel gauge, but the usual auxiliary gauges were dropped in just ahead of the console so you wont miss anything going on up front. Vintage Air A-C has been neatly integrated into the dash, and an AM-FM-cassette stereo provides the entertainment, although it pales in comparison to whats available under your right foot. Front disc brakes assist in keeping her on the road safely, and power steering makes the corners a breeze. Even the trunk is expertly finished in spatter paint and carries a reproduction mat. The ZZ502 big block drops right into the Chevelles engine bay, but before that happened, everything was restored, painted, polished, and smoothed. Check out the beautiful inner fenders and firewall, and the careful way all the lines and plumbing have been routed. Theres a serpentine belt drive for the accessories, a thick aluminum radiator, and a big Holley under the chrome air cleaner. Gorgeous long-tube headers look like art and are linked to a stainless 3-inch exhaust system with Flowmasters flanking the 12-bolt rear. A 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive makes this brute an easy highway cruiser and with less than 1000 miles on the build, everything is clean and ready to rock. Factory Rallys wrapped in 235-70-15 radials keeps the OEM vibe, but anyone who hears this one cackle to life will know theres more than meets the eye here. With more than $80,000 in receipts, this is a cost-no-object build that you couldnt possibly duplicate for the asking price, even if the car was given to you for free!
