350 hp, RPO L79 327 cu. in. V8 engine, four-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with upper and lower A-arms and coil springs, independent rear suspension with half-shafts, lateral struts, radius rods and a single transverse leaf spring, four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes. Wheelbase: 98" • Matching numbers L79 327/350 V8 • Desirable four-speed manual transmission • Documented with tank sticker and ownership history As Chevrolet’s thundering big-block V8s grabbed the most press during the 1960s, a surprising number of Corvette buyers opted for the L79 small-block engine. With 350 hp available from 327 cubic inches, the L79 preserved the Corvette’s near-perfect weight distribution and created a truly balanced high-performance Corvette. The high-winding L79 included free-breathing cylinder heads with 2.02-inch intake and 1.60-inch exhaust valves, an aluminum intake manifold, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, 11.0:1 compression and much more. Best of all, the L79 offered owners ease of maintenance with a hydraulic-lifter valvetrain, and the option added just $105 to the Corvette’s base price. This 1968 Corvette convertible retains its matching numbers L79 350/327 V8 engine and a four-speed manual transmission. The exterior is finished in International Blue, a rather rare exterior color that graced just 2,473 Corvettes out of total production of 28,566 units in 1968. The interior features striking blue upholstery. Other options include power brakes, power steering, a telescoping steering wheel and a vinyl-covered hard top. It was recently inspected by top NCRS master judge, who confirms that the Corvette retains its matching numbers engine and front body components. The interior is clean and includes the original dash, along with reproduction door panels and seat covers. The engine bay is noted as being very clean, as is the underbody. A great example of the early C3 Corvette, this L79 convertible is offered complete with tank sticker, ownership history and more. With its beautiful paint and interior, combined with a strong drivetrain, it is an attractive and immensely enjoyable example.
