Untitled 1 .style1 text-align: center; font-family: Cambria, Cochin, Georgia, Times, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large; color: #808080; 1970 Dodge Challenger R-T 440 Six Pack This is a Real V-code car! with Line Ticket! This was born as a Six Pack, 4 Speed and Dana rearend car and was used on a dragstrip the first few years. The car was eventually purchased in the early 80s by a Mopar mechanic who began buying all NOS parts for this car directly from the shelves of his Mopar dealership. Back in the 80s he had no idea what these cars were going to become so he decided that he wanted to make the car his by putting the drivetrain in that he wanted. He sold the transmission and rear end and located a 727 automatic transmission and an 8 3-4 inch rear that he rebulit with 3.55 gears. The block is correct and dated for 1971 with 1970 heads and a very rare early production date Mopar intake made by Edelbrock. All internals are stock except for the cam being bumped up one notch. He wanted to be able to drive the car while keeping it as period correct as possible. He also installed a transmission cooler and went to a bigger drum-shoe setup in the rear brakes. The restorer also wanted to alter the color combination. The car originally was a Dark green with a green interior and he obviously went with the Sublime and white interior. During the complete nut and bolt restoration, all parts were pulled, evaluated and either replaced or completely refurbished, as necessary. There is not one part of this car that did not get attention and attempted to be returned to factory correctness. He even hooked the reverse light up on the dash so that it lights up while in reverse (an option reserved for the manual shift cars). The only things I can think of off the top of my head that arent factory or NOS is the Legendary interior kit and the exhaust system. The Scat Pack stickers in the 1-4 windows are original. This car is not perfect nor is it numbers matching, but it is all period correct and an absolute eye catcher and attention getter among Mopar enthusiasts, car people and non-car people alike. It runs and drives fabulously and goes over the road better than most other Mopars. The original disc brakes do their job after you kick in the Six Pack. The transmission easily keeps you planted into the seat as you accelerate through the gears. This restoration took nearly 15 years to complete and has been finished for about 15 years. In the 15 years the car has had MAYBE 5000 miles put on it, so all components are still fresh and functioning 100%. As the car grew in value he became skeptical in driving it so as to not let anything happen to it. Again, this car is not a 100 point show winner, but once you see the attention to detail during the restoration, you cant help but appreciate this car for what it is and how nicely it can be driven and used as the restorer intended. The restorer kept all of his receipts from when he purchased the NOS parts, so you know how serious he was about keeping this as authentic as he could back in a time when authenticity wasnt all that important. You cant go wrong with a car like this for all around satisfaction as a driver and investment. Aside from a Hemi, what else in the Mopar world trumps a 70 Challenger with a 440 and Six Pack?
