Originally equipped from the factory with a 350 V8 and a 3 speed manual trans with overdrive and a 12-bolt posi rear end. GM was building factory hot rods and muscle cars were still the rage in 1972, arguably the end of the muscle car era. Along with the muscle cars, trucks were available with Hot Rodders in mind. This truck was fully customized with function kept in mind. The top was chopped to lower the roofline and tilt the windshield back, but not so much that you cannot wear a cowboy hat and still drive this truck. The black truck with classic hotrod yellow flames demand attention and the dual exhaust with side outlets let you know you are coming. The small block 350 V8 is believed to be the original engine, but has been warmed up a little bit. The actual cam is not known, but has a little more lope than a factory cam. A Wieand single plane aluminum intake topped off with a Holley carb with electric choke improves drivability and throttle response. HEI ignition helps with the reliability. Exhaust is long tube headers into dual Flowmaster mufflers and side exits in front of both rear wheels. The three speed manual Trans with overdrive shifts well. The truck is factory equipped with power steering and manual brakes, disc in the front drum in the rear. There are no pulsations or pulls from the brakes. Wheels are ET 5 spoke wheels in the Torque Thrust D full polished style, wrapped in Radial GT P245/R15 in the front and P275/60R16 in the rear. Nice tread all the way around. The interior on the truck is like new with beautiful black leather seats and a custom center console. Am/Fm stereo mounted in factory location with speakers below the dash. Door panels, headliner and finish on interior are like new. Windows are manual operated lightly tinted, and fully operational. The driver’s window has a small crack in lower corner, but operation of the window is not affected. The body is very solid, a restoration that was done some time ago, the paint is very nice, but has a few flaws that are pictured, a blemish in the flames, and a few spots where the paint has chipped or cracked. The body is lightly modified with a light chop to the top and windshield laid back slightly. The stock bed has Vega taillights and a smoothed tailgate. Certainly not to the point where a repaint is needed, but to be a true show winning truck some touchups would be required. Don’t miss the chance to own a real hot rod truck that is ready to cruise. Interesting Hot Rod or Motorcycle trades will be considered.
