Auto Assets is pleased to offer this 1973 AMC AMX Javelin. The odometer shows 21,204. Inspecting this car from top to bottom, we believe these miles to be 121,204. This is a rare opportunity to own a classic muscle car from the early 70’s. The chassis plate in the engine compartment indicates this car to have been manufactured with the 360 Cubic Inch V8. We have no reason to believe that the original engine is not still in the car, but benefitting from a recent rebuild. The previous owner represented to us that the engine was “Completely Rebuilt” less than 10,000 miles ago, though we do not have any internal inspection to ascertain the validity of that claim. What we can tell prospective buyers is that all of the external modifications that were represented to have been done to this car appear to be correct. , At the time of the rebuilding the cylinders received a .30” overbore with matching pistons. Other performance modifications included a Crane Camshaft, Edelbrock Torker Manifold, Roller Rocker Arms, Hooker Competition Headers and Flowmaster Mufflers with Turndowns. Power flows through a rebuilt Holley 750 Dual Line Carburetor mated to a Carter High Flow Fuel Pump. Mallory Hi Fire Electronic Ignition provides the spark to the high capacity spark plug wire set. The entire package runs through a manual shift transmission mated to a 2800 RPM stall converter and a 4:10 rear end gear ratio with traction bars under the rear axle turning Crager SST Wheels., This car is not without its flaws and they are thus portrayed in the photos., Both left and right rear quarter panels appear to rust through holes in them., The pull for the hood release is jimmy rigged with a zip tie and a cable. The hood fastens correctly. The release for the hood is the only issue., The left front fender has some rust bubbling underneath the paint. The rust appears to be just below the surface and does not appear to be structural., The vinyl on both driver and passenger seats are split and worn through in spots and will need to be recovered., The glovebox in the center console is missing its door., The tachometer dial have moved inside the tachometer so the RPM’s do not register correctly., The car makes great oil pressure. There is a nice AutoMeter mechanical gage under the dash that registers 40 Psi at idle when the engine is warm. Oil pressure rises commensurate with the engine RPM’s., The passenger side mirror is not attached to the passenger door but is included in the trunk of the car., The factory installed tach does not work., The factory oil pressure gage does not work.
