THIS IS NOT YOUR GRANDFATHER'S TOYOTA, The Challenge: To build a truck different than any other Pro-Street Truck., The nice thing about Toyota Trucks is the boxed frame - also, the front geometry is almost like Mustang IIs. It has coil-over shocks with standard steering, and factory power assisted 4 piston disc brakes. A line lock was also installed for those perfect torqued-up departures off the line! The body was stripped down to bare sheet metal. The chasis was stripped down also and blasted, primed with etching primer, and painted with 3 coats of chasis enamel. Rear springs were reworked for a more usable reaction other than hauling weight. Mopar B body shocks fit perfectly in the rear, along with a set of torque bars for stability and better traction., A nice old Chrysler New Yorker donated the 8 3/4 that resides underneath., Shortened about 2 inches with a nice healthy set of 4.30 to 1 ratio Richmond gears, held onto a sure-grip posi unit and driving Moser axels. The Mickey Thompson 21 1/2 X 15's giving it that extra wide footprint., A GM Turbo-Hydro 375 (400 with a 350 out-put Shaft) trans to the rear through a steel lightweight driveshaft with a sasfety loop. Under the hood lurks a vintage 1978 400 cub GM powerplant. The Block is .020 with forged pistons, Standard rods, and crank. The Main caps had a stud kit installed and were align-honed. The Block was squared and honed with a stress plate. Head stud kit installed, Edelbrock performer 202 heads were matched, steam holes drilled, Marine composite gaskets were used with the monel sealing wire inside., The valve train moves with Harland/Sharpe rockers with lash caps. Aluminum valve covers, Offenhauser intake fed by a vintage Holley 780 CFM Double Pumper Dual-feed carb with a Cagle pressure regulator., Alternator is a Nippondenso - it's hard to believe that that little thing puumps out 65 Amps. The Cam is a Crane compucam @320 Duration & .518 lift. The ignition is a chevy distributor with Mopar electronic guts. Flawless and powerfull!! The Headers are hand-made and Jet-Hot coated. Exhaust flows through 2 1/2" Stainless Steel pipe tig-welded together for perfect flow to the, International Harvester's school buss Muffler. Two 2 1/2" inlets and one 3 1/2" outlet. This muffler produces a fantastic tone under power, very unique, not unlike the truck itself. The wheels are Weld Racing. The body was designed with a unique appearance in mind. The look of a heavy truck, but lightweight in function. The body was hand crafted from the Oak panels and Stainless Steel rails all the way to the brushed Stainless Steel Stakes that are bolted in for high-speed cruising. The interior is a mixture of different themes. Basic dash was modified for Cyberdyne digital gauges, a Blaupunct radio, six speakers, glovebox and electric mirror controls. The steering column was from a 1983 Toyota Corolla, (tilt wheel), Seat was a 1989 Toyota tru;ck seat. A roll-bar was fabricated to blend in behind the seat. And, just in case all this isn't enough, there's also a removable sunroff!
