While the first Prelude (introduced in 1979) was considered somewhat of an oddity, the duck turned into a swan when its highly acclaimed successor was introduced in 1983. Sales of Preludes are considerably down from the model's peak in the mid-'80s, and while some were put off by the previous version's styling, the sports-coupe market generally has seen a precipitous decline as buyers gravitate to sedans and sport-utility vehicles.
