Of all the success stories Chrysler has experienced in recent years, the biggest one has to be the introduction of the Ram pickup for 1994. While the previous Dodge pickup barely attained one-tenth the annual sales of its rivals, the uniquely-styled Ram has been embraced by truck buyers to such an extent that it rose to fourth in overall new-vehicle sales for the first half of 1996. The Ram 1500 offers short and regular-length versions, and at slightly over 6,000 lbs. has the lightest gross weight ratings in the Ram line. It is the only Ram available with a V6, which is the standard engine for this pickup. A wide range of comfort and convenience options are available.
