The 1999 BMW 5-Series is a luxury mid-size, five-passenger sporty car available as a sedan or a wagon. The 5-Series is available in one of two trims; the 528 or the 540. The 528 is powered by a 2.8L six-cylinder engine which produces 193 hp and 206 lb-ft of torque. The powerful 540 version uses a 4.4L V8 engine which produces 282 hp and 324 lb-ft of torque. The 528 is available with a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic, while the 540 is available with a choice between a six-speed manual or five-speed auto.
