The full-size GMC sport utility was originally called Jimmy when introduced over a quarter century ago as a companion to Chevy's original full-size Blazer. While originally sharing its name with GMC's current compact sport utility, the Yukon name was adopted in 1992. For 1999, only a 4-door Yukon is available; the 2-door versions have been dropped. GMC has also chosen the Yukon platform to launch one of their entries into the luxury sport-utility market. The Yukon Denali, which went on sale earlier this year, sports a unique grille and special headlights to set it apart from other Yukons.
