The first Chevrolet truck appeared in 1918 and the first Chevy pickup bodies were produced in 1924. In 1941 the pickup was redesigned with new sheet metal, and in 1958 four-wheel drive debuted. The Chevrolet full-size pickup truck has been the second-best-selling vehicle in America for over 15 years running. The current version of the C/K 2500 was introduced in 1988, and is designed for more heavy-duty applications than the light-duty Silverado. Sold alongside the new Silverado for 2000, Chevrolet will expand the Silverado line for the 2001 model year with heavy-duty versions replacing the aged C/K 2500
