In all my years experience with Mercedes (13 years at RBM and my shop, Specialty Repair, has done M-B and BMW repair in N Fulton for 30 years), I’ve always been surprised by the wide range of condition of older MLs; it seems like they are terrible or great, with little in-between. If you have been shopping a used ML, you have probably found the same. Well, as you can imagine I’m about to say, this is a good one; really good. We have done our 134 point inspection and we’ve rarely seen a car breeze through so easily; tires are great and recently rotated and aligned, brakes and rotors are new, engine is fully serviced and all fluids where they should be, there are NO leaks of anything whatsoever, every electrical item works perfectly, the glass has no chips, and every body panel has totally original paint, (a very rare finding at 96k miles). The CarFax shows an accident report with “slight damage” which was apparently a parking lot incident limited to the front bumper, which was professionally repaired. I am so confident of this truck, that I am offering it for sale with a 30-day Satisfaction Guarantee! I urge you to come look and drive this magnificent example and arrange your own thorough inspection if you desire. One final note: if you are a family member, please consider these facts: in traditional SUVs (Explorer’s, Denali’s, Jeep’s), rollover causes 62% of all death or serious injury - nearly three times the 22% rate for cars. In 2006 SUVs had the highest occupant fatality rate of any vehicle type in rollover crashes at 7.77 per 100,000 registered vehicles (compared to 3.18 for passenger cars). When the NHTSA studied this phenomena (see www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/regrev/evaluate/809790.html), they found an astounding statistic: 65% of these deaths could be eliminated by a single safety feature - an electronic vehicle stability control system - ESP. The first and best of these systems is the Bosch ESP (Electronic Stability Program), which this vehicle and every Mercedes car or truck had had as standard equipment since 1998! If you are buying an SUV for safety, please insist on one with electronic stability controls (BTW, the result of that study is that all SUVs are required to have stability control standard starting this year)!
