January, 2002, Infiniti unveiled the 2nd generation of its FX45 concept. This design, described by the automaker as a "bionic cheetah", received much greater praise than the first generation. The concept was powered by a 300 horsepower V8 with an advanced all-wheel drive system. At that time, Jed Connelly, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, Nissan North America told the assembled journalists that a production version of the FX45 would be available in early 2003. The production version remained very close in styling to the concept.
