Dodge redesigns its large car for 2005, switching from a V6 sedan with front-wheel drive to a wagon that offers rear- or all-wheel drive and a V8. Magnum replaces the Intrepid and shares a platform with Chrysler's 300 sedan. It has a rear liftgate without separate-opening glass. Three trim levels are offered. SE models use a 190-hp 2.7-liter V6 and have rear-wheel drive. SXT versions use a 250-hp V6 and are available with rear-drive or AWD. RT models use a 340-hp 5.7-liter V8 and also are available with rear-drive or AWD. Chrysler calls RT's V8 the Hemi, and it features the company's Multi-Displacement System, which deactivates four cylinders under light throttle conditions to save fuel. All Magnums have automatic transmission--the SE a 4-speed, the other models a 5-speed with manual shift gate. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard. ABS and antiskid/traction control are standard on SXT and RT, optional on SE. Available on all is a Protection Group that includes front side airbags and front and rear head-protecting curtain side airbags. SEs have 17-inch wheels, SXTs and RTs have 18s. RTs add a firmer suspension. Split folding rear seatbacks and tilt/telescope steering wheel are standard. Leather upholstery is standard on the RT, optional on the others., This is a second owner car.
