The biggest issue that comes up on these is early turbo failure. , , This issue is usually caused by oil starvation to the turbo. , , Many enthusiasts know that the small mesh screens in the banjo bolts for the oil feed lines get plugged from not changing the oil frequently enough or from debris clogging those filters. Most people remove those screen filters to prevent future clogs. We took it a step further and upgraded the oil pump to an OEM Subaru STI Oil Pump. , , When we got this car it had no issues with the turbo, we just know the Outback XTs well enough to know that maintenance and prevention are much cheaper than a new turbo.
