The 2008 Scion xB receives a huge power upgrade over its predecessor with a 158-horsepower 2.4-liter dual overhead cam four-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing—the same engine found in the tC coupe. The engine delivers 162 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm and it can be mated to a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic with sequential shifting. Another upgrade over the previous generation, the xB now rides on 16-inch steel wheels with larger brakes for more stopping power. The interior offers a number of storage units, a driver’s right armrest has been added and the audio system has been upgraded to include standard rear head unit outputs to allow external amps to boost power to the front and rear speakers and subwoofers.
