One Owner Fresh Local trade Building on the popularity of its boxy xB wagon and sporty tC coupe, Scion introduced the all-new five-door xD subcompact hatchback for the 2008 model year. It replaces the xA hatchback, which Scion discontinued after the 2006 model year. Built on the same platform as the Toyota Yaris, the xD is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 128 horsepower with four-speed automatic transmission getting that power to the ground. Antilock brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution and Brake Assist are standard. Despite its affordable price, the xD is available with a lot of nice, even unexpected features as standard equipment. A first aid kit, for instance, is standard, as is a chrome exhaust tip, multi-reflector halogen lights, and a choice of three wheel-cover designs. Inside is a stylish look, with a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, amber instrument panel illumination, front sport bucket seats, power windows, power door locks with remote keyless entry, air conditioning, a digital clock, and a six-speaker Pioneer AM/FM stereo system with a CD player and iPod connectivity. The xD comes with a sliding and reclining rear seat, which is borrowed from the five-door Yaris. The Scion is also available with a number of accessories that enable drivers to personalize the car so look at this xD as your very own Blank Canvas to dress this one to your little hearts content. But remember, it's pretty nice as-is, too!
