The 2009 Ford Fusion gets stability control as an option this year, while traction control becomes standard on all V6 models. Fuel economy with the automatic transmission is rated at 20 mpg city/28 mpg hwy and 23 mpg combined. A 3.0L V6 engine with 221 hp and 205 lb-ft is optional on the SE and SEL, and comes with a 6-speed automatic. With front-wheel drive, the Fusion V6 returns 18 mpg city/26 mpg hwy and 21 mpg combined, while all-wheel-drive reduces those numbers by 1 mpg. The 5-passenger mid-size Ford Fusion comes standard with safety features, such as antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags and side-curtain airbags.
