Receiving only minor changes from last year, the 2009 Nissan Altima has added power mirrors and a trip computer, while dual-zone climate control with rear vents and a sunroof are standalone options. Offering a choice of a 2-door coupe or 4-door sedan, the Nissan Altima 2.5 standard features include a 2.5L four-cylinder engine producing 175 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, but the 3.5 trim packs a 3.5L V6 engine that grinds out 270 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Standard is a six-speed manual transmission, with a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) as an option. As for fuel economy, the four-cylinder achieves 23 mpg city/31 mpg on the hwy and 26 mpg combined, while the V6 engine scores 19/26/22 mpg with the CVT; however, gas mileage with the manual transmission is virtually the same. Standard safety features on most Nissan Altima trims include antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags, while traction control is standard on the 3.5 trims only.
