The 2012 Honda Odyssey sees no major changes following its model-year 2011 redesign. Honda's front-wheel-drive minivan comes in LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, and Touring Elite trim levels. A 248-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 with Honda's Variable Cylinder Management cylinder deactivation is the only engine. Honda's Active Noise Control, designed to electronically quell engine noise, is standard on all models. A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard on all but the Touring and Touring Elite, which get a 6-speed automatic. Safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front-side airbags, and curtain-side airbags that cover all seating rows. Power sliding rear-side doors are standard on all but the LX. The 2nd row of the LX has two bucket seats, giving it 7-passenger capacity. All other models add a center 2nd-row seat for 8-passenger capacity. The 2nd-row seats can move fore-and-aft about 5 inches and the outboard seats can move laterally about 1.5 inches. The 3rd row of all models seats 3 and folds into a well in the cargo floor, which otherwise can be used for storage. LX models have 4 child-seat anchors while other models offer 5. Available features include a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, 3-zone automatic climate control, navigation system with voice recognition and traffic information, and a wide-angle rearview camera. Also offered are a wireless cell-phone link, blind-spot alert, a refrigerated "cool box," and 115-volt power outlets. The available DVD entertainment system can be fitted with a 16.2-inch-wide screen capable of displaying one wide image or two narrower ones, along with HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) ports for video game systems, Blu-ray players, or other electronics.
